New House

I bought a house! Well, more accurately it's actually, we bought a house! Three of us have gone in on this adventure. My parents, my friend Larry and I. It was a well thought out decision and a timely one and made all the more feasible by three of us going in on it. We were able to be more flexible in the kind of house, and location we could go for. And so we found a good one. It feels like we found a good one. It's big. Enough room so that we can still all have our own space. It was originally a 2 family home. The family that lives in it now turned it into a one family home which means we have to turn it back into a 2 family home. Which is unfortunate but ok. It'll be lovely. My father still doesn't understand why we need two kitchens but I'm sure he'll come around once we're all settled. We take possession on July 22 and then we'll get going on the work to be done and then at some point we'll all move in. The idea is that my parents will live on the first floor and I'll live on the 2nd&3rd floors. This is going to be ideal for us. With all of their children and grandchildren now living in Toronto it'll be much easier for them to be here too. And as they get older it'll be easier for us too, to help them and so on. In a couple of years we're hoping that Larry will be able to move in too. It's all very exciting but also daunting with all the work we have ahead of us. My days of spending Sunday afternoons lounging on the couch are numbered, at least for a while. Not that I get to do that very often actually. But it is my favourite Sunday afternoon activity. Today has been a lovely day for that though. One of my favourite things about the house is the 2nd floor porch. It's cool. It has a cottage feel to it. Actually the house is great for porches and decks outside. It has a big backyard too. There's work to do there too. Good thing we're all going in on it together. It'll be a great place to have family all together. And parties with friends. And have grandchildren and nieces and nephews staying. It's a new Schemeitadventure just beginning. :-)
