Building Project

I was able to convince Larry that it would be a good idea to build our own shelves for our basement storage.  Our basement is an unfinished one and has become a crazy, out of control, storage and junk collection depot.  We haven't done anything there since we moved in and with renovation work that happened on top of it all, everything has become an unorganized mess.  Finally we can do something about it.  Following a disgusting flood, we had to have the basement dug up over the Christmas holidays to replace the 100 year old clay sewer pipes.  Then we got some handy guys in to fix drywalling in the one room and paint the floor of the first half of the basement.  So some shelves were necessary for storing the useful things we need; like Christmas decorations, camping gear, ski gear...  Oh we thought maybe we'd go to Ikea and get some plus the handy guys volunteered to build some, so we had options.  In the end, the best solution was to build them ourselves!  It took some gentle encouraging to get Larry to agree to the idea. And I'm very glad he did.  We had a great time, working together as a team and the shelves look great! (If we do say so ourselves)  And an added bonus is that we know that they are locally made.  Made at Beech Avenue.  :-)

I enjoyed organizing stuff on them tonight.  Tomorrow we will build the second half of the shelving unit...to be continued...
