Guten Rutsch!

Happy New Year everybody. I like the German phrase they use for New Year's Eve. Guten Rutsch effectively means "Have a good slide...into the New Year" I'm in Dresden. Planning on going to a trumpet and timpani concert at the Kreuzkirche this evening. And then experiencing the party in the streets. I'm looking forward to all the bell ringing and fireworking at midnight.

Yesterday we went to see La Boheme at the Semperoper, pictured above. It's very beautiful here even if the weather isn't particularly playing along today. The Sunday church service at the Frauenkirche was beautiful complete with a mini baroque orchestra playing a little Bach cantata in the middle of the service. Bach's Toccata and Fugue on the organ as postlude was amazing.

Christmas updates later!

Guten Rutsch!
Love Karin
