Bob and Nola

During my first week in Brisbane I had a lovely day with Bob and Nola. It was so much fun to meet up again after having met in July when we were on pilgrimage in France and England. They gave me my first introduction to downtown Brisbane. We drove into town and walked along the river walk under the Story bridge and past the high rise buildings, had coffee along the shore. It was very civilized and had a Toronto harbourfront feel even though we were on a river instead of a big lake. We walked through the Botanical Gardens and along the South Bank where there’s a funky beach and pool. We had lunch at the Cultural Centre, the area where the museum, art gallery, performing arts centre, state library are all gathered. It was lovely even though the weather was a little rainy at times. We took the CityCat boat from the South Bank back along the whole stretch we’d walked to get back to the car. It sure would be a cool way to go to and from work. The afternoon was spent reminiscing of our time together in July and looking at pictures at their lovely home. It was fun to catch up. In the evening we were invited to their daughter’s house for dinner. Their granddaughters were quite entertaining, very clever, creative and interested in Canada. They brought out their atlas and we had some good discussion. Bob and Nola were off to Europe a few days later for their next adventures so unfortunately that was the only time we got to visit. We definitely made the most of it.
