Silke, Christian & Ole

We had a great time with our wonderful "best bekannte" friends.  It was good to be with them and to see how Ole has grown since we saw them in the spring when they came to visit us.  He’s beginning to talk some words and is usually able to get his point across quite well.  He even vacuums now!  We went for walks and shopped at the markets and went on great day trips.  They live in an area of Stade that has been refurbished.  The old 1930s army barracks have been turned into flats or schools and so the whole neighbourhood has quite a historical charm.  I couldn’t help but constantly be singing “Vor der Kaserne, vor dem großen Tor, steht eine Laterne und steht sie noch davor, da wollen wir uns wieder sehen, bei der Laterne woll’n wir stehn, wie einst Lilli Marleen”.  We went on walks around the area, and along the Elbe.  We drove through beautiful orchards.  We visited the old town of Stade and enjoyed the Christmas market.  It was the week that Christmas markets began opening for the season and so we enjoyed the first Glühwein together.  And we had a great time just being together as very good friends.
