Airport adventure

July 30

Getting to England was a harrowing experience. First of all, both Frankfurt and Heathrow airports are zoos to begin with. Add on all of the delays and you get a harrowing experience. When we arrived in Frankfurt after a 3 hour bus ride, our plane was overbooked by 80 people. So they had to put us on 3 different flights later in the day. There was a lot of waiting around. Fortunately we had a lot of company with each other. It would have been far more excruciating to be on my own. Helen asked at one point, when we were finally on the plane, probably before they announced another delay because someone had checked baggage and not gotten on the plane so they needed to find that bag…anyway, Helen asked “Where is God in all of this?” After careful consideration I decided that he was in our humour, in our good spirits. We were all remarkably calm and unstressed (except maybe Lynn, Gerald and Michelle) and were able to laugh quite a bit at times.
